Working outdoors in the heat? Your body loses fluids fast, faster than a cold Gatorade disappears on a jobsite.
- Drink water throughout the day – Not just at lunch.
- Skip the energy drinks – They dehydrate more than they hydrate.
- Cervezas — Obviously no drinking on the jobsite/office – but what you do in your free time is your business. Just remember, alcohol in any form will also dehydrate you.
- Watch for signs of heat illness – Dizziness, cramps, fatigue? Don’t push through—speak up.
- Breaks in the shade = smart – Hydration plus rest keeps you working strong.
If your urine looks like iced tea instead of lemonade, drink more water (gross but effective visual, right?).

Just because you’re inside doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. AC can dehydrate you too.
- Keep a refillable water bottle at your desk.
- Set a reminder to drink every hour (we know how time flies behind a screen).
- Coffee’s great, but water’s better (your kidneys will thank you).
- If you feel a 3pm headache coming on, it might be dehydration, not email overload.
No matter your role, staying hydrated keeps you clear-headed, energized, and safe.

Make sure you have plenty of water and stay hydrated and cool in the summer heat.
